“Dive into Science”
Discover how scientific research works with our science app
The “Dive into Science” learning app invites young people to explore the scientific research process through interactive, inquiry-based learning. Based on five authentic research questions, users are guided step by step through every stage of scientific investigation – from formulating a hypothesis and designing an experiment to analysing data and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
For each research question, learners choose from different hypotheses, experimental designs and conclusions. In doing so, they experience first-hand how scientific research is conducted and gain insight into the decisions researchers make throughout the scientific process.
The app helps learners understand
- how to formulate a strong scientific hypothesis,
- how to design a robust experiment,
- the difference between describing results and interpreting findings, and
- how to evaluate whether an experiment can actually test a hypothesis.
Instant feedback, clear visualisations and easy-to-understand explanations support learners in developing scientific thinking and a deeper understanding of the research process. They learn to critically evaluate data, draw evidence-based conclusions and recognise the strengths and limitations of scientific findings.
The “Dive into Science” app combines playful learning with authentic scientific inquiry, making science accessible, engaging and interactive.
Target Group
The app is designed for secondary school students and anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of how scientific research works.
Learning Objectives
The app supports learners in developing
- an understanding of the scientific research process,

- confidence in interpreting scientific data and evidence.
Technical Development
The technical development of the “Dive into Science” app was carried out by Deckweiss, an Austrian software company based in Purgstall.
