Experience science firsthand: Students perform research themselves

As part of the INSE project (Interdisciplinary Network for Science Education Lower Austria), students from BORG Wiener Neustadt became social researchers themselves. The aim of the project was to strengthen understanding of science – in response to the high level of skepticism towards science among the population.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Gregor Jöstl (PH NÖ), the classes 8N2 and 7NI developed their own questionnaires, conducted surveys with up to 100 people, and analyzed the data using scientific methods. At the celebratory final event, they presented exciting results – such as attitudes towards natural sciences or nuclear power.

The students themselves were also surveyed: Before and after their research work, they were asked how their view of science had changed – providing an exciting insight into science education in practice!
