SHORE, Empower students as the agents of change

In this blog post, we would like to introduce SHORE initiative. SHORE aims to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the water habitat and the sustainable use of our water (Blue literacy) among students, teachers, and educators at primary and secondary level. To achieve this goal, the project partners are developing and offering teaching materials and training courses for educators.

SHORE is funding 100 school projects in the course of three open calls, which can receive up to €10,000 for implementation. All funded projects are eligible for the “Ocean Ambassador/Literate of the Year” award at the end of the call periods, and they are thus made internationally visible for their special achievements.

Membership of the “Network of European Blue Schools” is a prerequisite for project funding by SHORE in order to ensure a sustainable approach to the topic of blue literacy. The application opportunities for the Blue Schools Network take place twice a year.

As one of seven Country Hubs, the Children’s Office of the University of Vienna is responsible for the (German-speaking) regions of the Danube and Rhine.  To support submissions, the Children’s Office of the University of Vienna is organizing a webinar in which all information about the Open Call will be shared and questions from participants will be answered. The webinar is scheduled for Monday, 12.02.2024, from 17:00-18:30 and the link to register is  https://www.termino.gv.at/meet/de/b/6a4e0996297806a10eafe0631b98cf79-288966
