Interesting Findings on Austrian Perceptions of Science and Technology

The latest Special Eurobarometer survey 557 provides interesting insights into the perceptions of science and technology in Austria. Notably, it reveals a decline in Austrian trust in their own scientific knowledge compared to previous years. Many individuals find scientific information- from environmental issues to technological advances- complex and difficult to grasp.

However, the survey also highlights a growing sense of curiosity: a large portion of the population wants to learn more about scientific developments and engage with research through events at museums, libraries, and other local institutions.

This increased willingness to get involved offers a valuable opportunity. This is where our interdisciplinary project, INSE, plays a crucial role. Our aim is to enhance the understanding of science in both education and society, simplify scientific methods for broader accessibility, and foster dialogue between researchers and the public. Ultimately, we seek to spark curiosity, facilitate meaningful exchanges, and integrate science more deeply into everyday life.
