BrainFood Workshops at the KLUG Day at BG/BRG Hollabrunn

  • by

On April 14, 2026, WasserCluster Lunz participated in the KLUG Day at BG/BRG Hollabrunn with its science communication project “BrainFood.” The aim of the day is to introduce students to topics such as climate, environment, and health from different perspectives, while giving them the opportunity to actively engage.

In our BrainFood workshops, the classes had the opportunity to get a glimpse into a real scientific project. They worked at three interactive stations focused on fish and their habitats.

At these stations, students learned about different fish species, explored their origins, and placed them in a global context. A food web puzzle helped illustrate how fish, insect larvae, and other organisms are interconnected and what roles they play in the ecosystem. The workshops also covered lakes, their stratification and habitats, and how these may change as a result of climate change.

In the second part of the workshop, the classes tested a VR experience developed within the BrainFood project. During this session, we collected targeted feedback, which will be used to further improve the application.

The workshop showed how exciting and tangible science can be when students actively engage with it. We would like to thank the school for the invitation and for a successful KLUG Day!
